Matt Dorsey isn't a big kid.
At 5 feet, 6 inches, and just 120 pounds, he's not likely to get noticed
in the hallways of Susquehannock High School. He's the type of kid who's
old enough to drive but may need a phone book to see over the dash. A
kid who probably has painful memories of the height requirement for
roller coasters.
Even on the soccer field, a place where hulking football players and
towering basketball stars are noticeably absent, Dorsey just blends in.
But he changed that yesterday. The junior took aim at history -- and a
Susquehannock soccer record -- by blasting two goals in a 5-2 YAIAA
Division I victory over Spring Grove. The goals gave Dorsey 42 for his
career, one more than the previous record.
With two goals, two assists, and a new high school record to his credit,
he was firmly in the spotlight, and he did his best to share it with
others.
"It was a team effort, everyone else gave me assists," Dorsey said.
"(The record) feels great. It's probably the best thing I've achieved in
my life so far."
