I spent three years total with UK soccer; three years playing for Steve Corrieri at Susquehannock High School and two years playing club for Gaz Davies with York United. I owe a lot of my development as a player to both of them. I am currently playing at Messiah College, a very successful Division 3 soccer program, and I could not be playing at such a level without the help of Steve and Gaz. They both know how to push their players to new levels through development of speed of play, technical ability, and overall work rate. The coaches there know a lot about the game and are skilled enough to pass on that knowledge in ways that improve their players.
I was part of a team at Susquehannock that had won 2 games the year before Steve came and after Steve trained us for a couple of months, Susquehannock became a powerhouse of York County soccer, winning the County championship my last 2 years and ending the regular season undefeated in my senior year.
I owe a lot of my success to Steve and my success in my growth as a player. Under Coach Steve Corrieri, I was the captain for nearly six years and played on the North Stars, a successful club team (now retired) in York United Club Soccer program. If it weren’t for this program and Steve, I could not see myself playing for a competitive Division II soccer team in College (Caldwell College), and for TSV Marktoberdorf, a successful club in Germany.
I consider Steve Corrieri to be one of the best; if not the best coach I have ever had in my entire soccer career. He knows how to push a player to their maximum ability. He can push not only me, but everyone he coaches to a new level. He is great at tactical play and the development of technical skills, game pace, finishing, passing, and work rate.
Both Steve Corrieri and Gaz Davies (who I have played for on occasion), know how to train their players in preparation for the mental and physical aspect of the game.
UK soccer taught and helped me understand how the game of soccer was played. They helped me develop the skills needed to play at a higher level of competition and were able to share their soccer experience to help their players get better. They made the game fun and a joy to play.
UK soccer, especially you (Coach Steve), helped me in many ways to develop into a collegiate soccer player. The rigorous training and high level of play helped me develop physically and mentally for college. The hard and intense practices helped me prepare me for what to expect from college. I already felt that I knew what it took to practice hard to ultimately win games. UK Soccer instills the right attitude and charisma a soccer player needs to succeed. If I didn't play with York United, I know I would not be where I am at today!

Every collegiate athlete has that one person that pushed them beyond what they thought they could achieve. That person for me was my UK soccer coach, Steve Corrieri. His dedication and passion for the game was able to bring out the best in my teammates and me. In the five years that I was coached my Steve I learned that through hard work, determination, and a belief in myself and my teammates, anything is possible. These ideas have not only helped me on the soccer field but also in the classroom and the work place. Even though I have not played for York United in over two years, Steve is still willing to give up his time to help train me in the off season. I have not only come out of this experience with better soccer skills, work ethic, and knowledge of the game, but I have also gained lifelong friends and great memories. I am so thankful to Steve and this soccer program and I can honestly say that without them I would not be where I am today.
UK Soccer helped to make me the player I am today. York United allowed me to play against some of the best competition in the state, as well as out of state. The training taught me how to be a leader and to step up to challenges - whether they are on or off the field. The trainers and coaches encouraged my love of the game and helped me develop the skills I needed to succeed at the collegiate level. Training with UK Soccer and playing for York United are some of my favorite memories, and I am thankful for all those in the program that helped me achieve my goals.
It is difficult for me to believe that I would be playing at the current level I am without highly accrediting the efforts of my U.K. soccer coachers. Both Gaz’s and Steve’s coaching and mentoring allowed me to view and understand the game of soccer on a level that I had not knew prior to my experiences with them.
UK Soccer and Steve Corrieri have provided the most effective soccer coaching I have ever had. Steve’s selfless contribution and sacrifice were driven purely by passion for the team and the sport. His dedication pushed me to realize my maximum potential as a soccer player. All of his encouraging words inspired me to overcome individual weaknesses and gave me the desire to work hard to continue soccer in college.
